is it easier to rebuild a 305 or a 350

ive got an 89 rs and there is a 305 in it but i didnt know if its better to just rebuild that motor or find a 350 and rebuild it!! also how hard is it to rebuild the transmission in it and will it work with a 350 if i get one!!

what are you doing with the car? keep in mind... it takes a lot of money to make the 305 as fast as the 350. why not start with the 350?

i want a good motor but im not sure how to tell what 350 are in good condition

The best results would be to replace the 305 with a Gm crate350 . (long block @$1400). Most external parts from the 305 will transfer over including the intake and TBI. You will not have a performance screamer but it still will over what you would have with rebuilt 305.

like spectar said as long as the engine is in good condition youll be fine. second you can run a 75 wet shot with a ball park tune with no problems and a 100 shot if you go in and tune it well. ill be putting a 75 shot on mine as soon as sombody finshes his Mcats.

im trying to get around 400 to 450 hp . using new cam bore it out pistons heads headers, ive got headers picked out but the rest of the stuff im not sure about. im getting a short block 350. Thanks for the help. ill have pics of the car up soon

Went from a 305 rebuild and not knowing anything about a good 350 block to now a fire breathing 400/450 HP bored out 350. Go figure?????[sm=bounceybounce.gif]
