Default Dagnabit Air cleaner

Garrgle I just got a Edelbrock 1207 aircleaner for my 1406 Carb and I tried to put it on but the stooped fuel line and choke are in the way. I read the directions and said that a spacer may be required... Ok so i take off the cleaner and try to close my hood and the damn rod that comes out of the carb is too long i couldnt close my hood.

I take out the rod and figure i'll worry about it later and head to autozone to get the spacer only THEY DONT HAVE it. They said it's discontinued and they dont have anything else... but they sell the carb and the aircleaner there.

I ordered the spacer online and am still waiting for it but i dunno what i'ma do about the height of it. should i just chop the rod down to size and use a smaller air filter? It currently has a 3" filter i figure i can go to a 2"-2 1/4" filter
