Default from carb to tpi????

Hi I am new here but in no way new to cars. I have built my share of cars but I have never went from carb to fuel injection. I have a sbc 350 bored .30 over and have all new internals and so on. but after driving the car for a year or so i have decided that i want to go fuel injected on it. I would like to use the same moter i have now because i have so much time and money in it. pluse everything that can be chrome or polished on it is. so with that said i was just wondering how hard this will be to do? I have bben told that i can just go take all the stuff off a 80 camaro with a 350 tpi and it will bolt right up and all i would have to do is take the ecu out of the same car and its kinda plug in and go. Is there any truth to this? If so great but if not then what else is all need to be done? any help that u guys can hgive me would be great.
Thanks Larry

'80 Camaro's were carburated. IIRC, Tuned Port Injection wasn't available until '85 on Camaro's.

You didn't say 80's, you said "off a 80 camaro". You really can't be any more specific then that!

I don't know anything about fuel injection. I just didn't want to see you buy a '80 Camaro with the assumption it had TPI or something like that. You'd be amazed with what people put on ebay and/or Craigs List. You'd be even more amazed at what people buy on those sites.

Just making sure you weren't mislead, that's all. Good luck!

You are asking two question. 1) How do a swap a TPI into an NON-TPI car. 2) How do I get a 80's TPI system to work with and NON TPI engine. Neither are simple questions or Simple to accompish. The good part is there is tons of info on the subject. THis was a quick Amazon search. You will want to make sure the book has the correct years you are dealing with.

I have completed a TPI swap on my 1986 Monte Carlo SS. The biggest issues are gathering the parts and then wiring the harness into your car. for a G-body as you mentioned it is a swap that has been done hundreds of times.

I was told to do the swap It would be best to run the speed density TPI... Like i said i have never messed with it. Do u have any more info that u can share? Like can i put this on my motor that is a 350 with non vortec heads and so on? Now i was also told on the wiring that painless makes a good kit or i could just pull one out of a car. Do you know of any build up threads u can point me too?? Also is there a good g-body forum somewhere??
