Default Can't find engine size.

Hey guys, I have looked over three diferent sites tryin to figure out what engine I have in my 86 camaro. It came with a 305 tpi. But now its got a carb set up on her, and she just seems to quick to me to be a 305. I have ridden in 305's before and they just don't have the ***** this motor has.. not even close. I don't have use of first gear unless I baby the hell out of her..and I still ran a 8.9 second 1/8th mile in her the other week. Any help would be great!

Here's the only numbers stamped in the front head behind the alt that I can find. I know the top line o be exact. But the bottom line starting with 1m is iffy. I can only barely read it after cleaning it up the best I could. Thanks!

VO306CLH

and

1M\107252 I have read that this is part of the vin..but this does not match my vin at all. Am I wrong here?

Checking the casting numbers is the easiest way. Some blocks have 5.0L or 5.7L cast into the block either at the back near the casting number or on the side. You could always pull one head and measure the cylinder bore also.

CLH 1991 305 205 TPI LB9
CLH 1973 350 250 4 t/h trans., NB2
CLH 1976 350 165 4 LM1

Ok found this info on a site...now all i gotta do is figure out which one of the three I have. My main goal...finding out if I have the 305 or the 350. If it is the 305...at least its the better of them. Being the lb9 with 205 shows why its stronger than I have ever ridden in before. Now...i doubt it, but if it is the 1976 350...My butt dyno is really in need of a adjustment!

You are correct with those three options, which means your engine is not the original one for your 86.
This tells how and where to find the casting number and date you're looking for: http://www.chevy-camaro.com/chevy-ca...oding-help.asp
Also, if it's a newer vintage engine, there should be castings like 5.0 or 5.7 on the bellhousing flange.
The first part of the code is V=Flint engine plant, 03=March, 06=6th day of the month (build date).
