Default camshaft re install, need help.

Hey I am re installing my camshaft, and I have never worked with a gear driven one before. I was wondering if you guys could help me make sure that I am putting it back in correctly. Also, I pulled it out to find out what cam it was, the whole engine only has around 5k miles on it, so nothing is being replaced. Are those two holes I have circled supposed to be lined up? Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

yes. should line them up when u take it apart if doin a cam or timing chain. just makes things easier. this is a time when a digital camera comes in handy. take lots of pictures when u take it apart. can always erase and cost nothin to take the pics. cams turn backwards huh. i thought about doin the change on my boat but found out i had to buy a cam to match it so figured that could wait till the motor get tired.

What brand gearset are you using? And let us know how you like the noisy gear drive. Is this an old school engine, without a knock sensor?
