Default camshaft install HELP!

I have a plain old 350 in my Camaro, I want to install and edelbrockperfromer plus camshaft kit...and I am wondering what else I need to install in order to get everything working well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well you'll need the cam gasket kit which entails intake gasket, timing cover gasket, and valve cover gaskets. You'll also need a harmonic balancer puller. Additionally the Performer Plus cams are .420"/.442" lift, and you should consider higher pressure springs for your heads. If your heads have some miles on them you might want to have them gone through before installing the cam, since changing springs is easier with the heads off the engine.
Hopefully your stock heads have enough flow to work with the Performer Plus. It's not a radical cam, so it should work with most stock heads, as long as they're good condition.
If you've already got a good intake, carb, and headers/exhaust then you wont need that stuff. If you haven't got the rest, then you wont really realise full benefits of the cam without a good flowing air intake and exhaust system.

Not to sure what the definition of a good carb and intake is. I've got a full MSD ignition, electric fan and fuel pump, a Holley 600 carb, a weiand stealth intake with stock headers. running 2 inch pipe all the way back with cherry bombs. My heads are stock too, the motor is an old edelbrock crate. mid 80's. So what do you think? the cam worth it yet?

The Holley 600 carb should work pretty good once you get it tuned for your new cam set up.

The Weiand Stealth Intake has and operating range of 1500-6700 RPM. The Performer Plus cam has an operating range of idle to 5500 RPM. The cam might work a little better down low with a Edelbrock Performer or Weiand Action+Plus intake. However the Stealth intake will probably work ok.

Your profile says you have an 81 Camaro. 81 Camaro's didn't come with headers, they came with regular exhaust manifolds. If it has headers, someone put them on at some point. If they're 1 5/8 inch full length headers they should work very well. 1 1/2 inch full length header would work too. Your 2 inch exhaust system should work as long as it's a dual exhaust system. A 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 inch full length exhaust systems would be preferable.

I don't know anything about Edelbrock crate engines from the mid 80's so I can't say anything about them. Edelbrock made their Performer Plus cams back then, so you might already have that cam in your motor now. You might want to call Edelbrock and talk to them about that.

Good luck!
