Default 305 TPI Engine

Hello everyone, I have a 1991 Z28 with a 305 Tuned Port Engine. I just got a rebuilt motor from Jasper, $1800, it has about 280 miles on it since it was dropped in.
I was wondering, it doesnt have the same get up and go, I am tryin to baby it for a while and "break it in", but I was wondering if after the 500 miles
and I change the oil if it will be any faster? They also left in the 350 ECU, I have the 305 ECU still, but these are just some things I was wondering...
All jasper engines are supposted to be O.E.M. specs, so she should be like it was before..... .thanks for your input.

Corey

If you are using a 350 ECU on a 305 engine, and it hasn't been tuned for a 305, then you are probably having fuel A/F misture problem and the engine is not running at it's full potential. You may want to put in the 305 ECU. I don't quite understand why Jasper would send you a 305 engine with a 350 ECU, or am I not reading your post properly?

I had a 305 TPI and it blew, bought a 350 TPI off some kid... blew... so when they swapped the 350 in, I got the ecu and everything for it... like Its really hard to spin the tires and it isnt as powerful, I take it I should put back in that 305 ECU? .... thanks for the help! -- Ok I know this may sound dumb, but there is 2 wires 2 main blue ones that go into my 305 ECU and when I unplugged the 350 one, unless I got the wrong thing, it had the 2 main blue wires that fit into it, but it the 350 ecu also has a a main power wire that the 305 doesnt any help of where the power wire goes to??

P.S. the 305 ecu numbers is this... 1227165
350 says this.... Delco Electronics 16198262-- I think this may be my ECM thou... help please?

The computer for a 305/350 are the same. The only difference is in the Prom ( aka chip). If you running a 305 TPI that is the chip you will need, otherwise the inputs from 350 chip will cause problems.

You will need a 305 TPI chip and remove the present chip from the ECM (computer). it is has a pin type plug and is the only one that can be removed. Use the new chip as a ref because they are the same in appearance.
