Unhappy Opti-Spark Distributors

Im having some problems with my distributor. It has been replaced twice with some auto zone distributors, and they keep failing. Has anyone had any problems with an Accel Opti-Spark distributor? Or a GM Performance Replacement? Im leaning more towards the Accel, but i need some opinions please!

Thanks,
Justin

ive used the GM Performance one and it worked great,i didnt know autozone had an optispark of their own.I know the ACCEL one is cheaper, but you really get what you pay for,and why do this again in 6 months, id go get the GM replacement of the MSD until and be done with it.

Yea, i didnt know they did either. But thats what i was told by the previous owner. The car will crank up, and when it gets warm, it shuts off and it may be 10 minutes or 2 hours before it will start back up. So, i think im going to listen to you and go with the GM Performance Replacement.

We had a professional come in and update the computer in it. He used the Tech 2 programmer and AllData, and found out it was the distributor. It was getting no RPM signal, therefore it wouldnt start.

The thread posted by mike (traskowsky) entitled, (94 z28 wont run), also deals with a similar problem. I have had this same issue for a while now and yet to find a solution. Car runs for about ten minutes, then as soon as it hits closed loop, it dies. I have tried had a both a holley and an MSD ignition box in it and neither have solved the issue. I have been through everything I can think of as well as tried some things others have posted on a thread I posted about the issue. I have gone through and replaced or checked all fuel system components and have also replaced the coil with MSD blaster coil. I also have a new optispark which I put on about 4-5 months before this issue began. Justin, it is interesting that you had a diagnostic hooked up to it and were getting no crank trigger signal when attempting to start. If this is the case it would begin to explain why when mike (trashkowsky) had this issue he found that when the car was cutting out, there was no signal to the his injectors therefore no firing. In a few weeks when I pull my car out of storage I will use my buddies snap-on diagnostic on it and see what the readings are as it is dying/cranking without starting. Hopefully this will give me something to work from.

if you have tested and replaced everything mechanical, it can only be electrical.
it could simply be your ecm. that would definitely suck.
