I believe that the 95 uses a different camshaft connection for the opti, but am not certain. I know that the early '94s are non-vented and from '95 on they are vented. But from what I have read, you can convert a non-vented to a vented version which should allow it to last longer.
For 200 bones, are you sure that you are getting an AC Delco unit? Or is it a cheap knock-off or reman unit? I just ordered a genuine AC Delco unit (P/N ACDelco 10457702) and it cost me nearly $400 with shipping. But it is a new unit and hopefully will last another 83K miles like the original one did.

I would check to make sure you do have the vented style opti. In the F-Body cars, the change went to the vented style in 95, but in 94 on other models such as the Impala. Since 94-95 was a transition period, it would be best to make sure, just in case Chevy started putting vented optis in the late 94 F-Body cars. You never know, GM has done stranger things than that in the past.

No, a 95 F-Body Opti will not fit in a 94 F-Body car without front cover and camshaft modifications. Only the B-Bodies (and the D-Body???) got the vented Opti in 1994. The Optis differ in drive method, ventilation system, and electrical connection. The 94 uses a splined system that mates to the camshaft timing gear and the 95 uses a pin drive system.

Ok well with that info im going out right now to pull it off there and check to see if its vented or not before I go buy one.....and grandpawswagon its not ac delco is Duralast from autozone and the exact price is 239.99.....but on ebay I just found item number 270542677084 which has part number 10457702 which is the same as stock but is only 73 buck shiped to my house!!

I wouldn't put a Duralast ignition anything on my car. There's a reason why some ebay opti's are $70 and others are $300, you get what you pay for. I understand being on a budget, but your time and aggravation is worth something too. It's up to you if you want to take a chance on a cheap China made opti crapping out on you and having to take everything apart again. This: Delphi unit on ebay is $295. It's your money and time, and in the end it's your call.
