Default msd hurt my car!

i just installed the 6ls and the car is acting weird. It starts real hard, usually taking a few cranks to fire it up. once it starts it seems to idle fine and sounds normal. but when driving it will randomly cut out and die. the MSD people said that the pcm needs to recalibrate itself, but i didnt think the pcm would care about a new ignition. there is nothing AF related. Any ideas?

its a 98 if that matters, i hear there are some pcm issues in those years

the software is sending a cam sensor failure message. The guys at msd said that its possible for the cam sensor to be going out, and the msd relies more on that than the factory ECU so it would cause a malfunction.

Does that sound right to anyone? and how difficult/involved is the cam sensor replacement? (by that im pretty sure I mean expensive, cuz the damn thing is on the back of the motor)
