Default what brand would you recommend?

well im looking to upgrade my sound system.. the whole thing.. i was on a tight budget when i got my first system, and i was buying one thing here and another thing there, used and what not.

the amp that i have is pretty small and i only have one 10" sub.

the speakers that i have are cheap performance technique. someone told me they were decent speakers for the price.. and they work fine

but now i want something louder.. right now, if i set the volume past a certain point it just sounds all distorted and like ***t. so i want a crisper sound at higher levels..

and i also would like to get a nice amp and 2 12" subs to go in the back..

so anyone have any recommendations? is it best to keep everything one brand? like all alpine or kenwood?

about how much am i looking to spend here on what im asking for?

oh and i want the deck to have a usb input in the back.

Hey man, I've always liked Kenwood, my whole system is kenwood for the most part, only the 6.5's in the stock locations and my crossover aren't.
Here's my favorites for componets.

Denon, Kenwood, Pioneer, and Alpine for headunits.
Rockford fosgate, Kenwood, JL Audio, and Infinity for amps.
Kenwood, JL audio, Infinity, and Cervin Vega for subs. (Maybe Kicker, I've heard some good setups with them, seems like they are either on or off depending on the box)

And for subs, remember this! Every sub has a max power rating and a max db rating. Now a sub that has a max db rating of 88 and a max power rating of 3000 watts is only going to be 88 db loud. There are several speakers out there that only need 400-600 watts in order to hit 91+ db. Don't waste your time getting speakers that aren't going to be loud no matter how many watts you put to it. And for that matter the cost of the amp to push it. Look at what's out there and compare them. Look at the sq ft they require because any box you build is only going to have about 1.5-2.25 sq ft per speaker in the trunk well area.

I do, I have some 1" kenwood tweeters for the front/back. The stock speakers have been replaced with some 3 way RF. I got these little things from crutchfield called bassblockers, they just go inline to your speaker and they are made to cut freq's out. I think I have 80 Hz ones on the RF's, they work really good and help to tune your sound.

I would have to agree with you on the JL's, but as for kicker, there amps are overrater and overpriced and I've already talked about the subs. But everyone has their own opinion about what sounds good to them, what I like you may hate and so on.

kicker and JL both give very clean bass with alot of it..and they only make subs and amp's as supposed to like infinity so they are kind of specialized you might say

Well Last nite I went to the casino and came up 200. So today I went to the flea market in search of a new deck. I found a panasonic stereo that looked nice. Had an aux plug in up front And was iPod iPhone ready with USB trough the back.

I was getting ready to pay 95 for that when I see a guy walk in with a box. He wanted to trade the guy for a different box. He said his cousin gave it to him, he had taken in off of a camaro. And the guy didnb want to trade because he said it was going to be too hard to sell a box special for camaro. So I told the guy I would give him 30 for it and he took it.

So then I got to thinking and decided to get 2 12"s instead of the stereo since I have a working stereo now, and I wouldn't have subs to put in the box. So I stArted looking at the subs and comparing. Ended getting some boss special edition 1200 watt subs. Got them both for 80 buks.

They seem like good subs. Not the best but decent ones and the guy said if I don't like how they sound I can take them back. So for now I got the box with the subs. My old amp is pushing them for now. Going back next weekend hopefully to get the amp then a deck some other time. I know the subs are not getting pushed to their limit because of the amp. But it is better bass than what I had before so I'm sure that with a better amp I'm going to b very satisfied. After the deck some new speakers are coming.

Any body here like or dislike boss?? Have any experience with them?

Oohh and one more thing. I saw a pretty cool stereo with a 4" screen for display and DVD That would cost me 180. But it's a performance technique. The guy told me that they have come a long way and make decent speakers and stereos. I have some of their speakers and I have no complaints. But just that they are not a vey recognized brand.

Any body like or dislike performance technique? Have experience with that brand?

Should I get the pioneer deck for the 95 or go for the performance technique with a 4" screen for the 180. Does the stereo make a big difference on the sound that comes from the speakers?

And thanks for all the help so far guys i apreciate it. I'll post pics of the box and subs as soon as I get home. THANKS!!!!!

I'm just going to say you get what you pay for. From my expierece, boss stuff is like audiovox.

I've never heard of performance technique, which to me is a bad thing. But since I don't know, I don't know man.

And from your experience is audiovox good??

I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with the pioneer deck. I just liked the 4" screen. Lol. And the guy who works there knows my roomate. He told us that boss were good subs that will last me a good time and get the job done. I told him I wasn't looking for something over exageratingnloud. Just something with good bass that will last me a while

arrow. Boss is "cheap" product. By chreap I mean not worth the money. Might as well spend the extra 40 on the kickers or kenwood?
