Default speaker trouble

I put a new stereo in my 94 and the radio sounds fine but when I play cds the sound is really distorted. Some songs play fine though. And when I play my ipod the sound is distorted too. Does anyone know if this car has a built in amp and if this might be the problem?

Default RE: speaker trouble

camaro sound systems are pretty screwed up to be honest. first of all, they have (well i know the bose does, idk bout standard) independent amplifiers for EACH speaker up front so thats a problem waiting to happen and my speakers are always shorting and **** i have no idea why. ive heard some friends with camaros sayin the same thing. idk bout the cds, but i CAN help with the ipod. make sure the volume is about only halfway on the ipod, and then adjust it with the stereo.
