Idk about the altinator but you might want to get a circuit breaker so that instead of blowing expensive fuses you can just flip a switch. Also you will need at least a 1 farad cap.

Hes runnig a 1200 watt amp and unless he wants his cars lights dimming and his sub not hitting to its fulll potential then I guess your right and he wont need one.

A cap is only a band aid for what the real issue is. A cap doesn't fix anything.

I would first upgrade the "Big three" electrical in your car, as I am sure it is needed. Then if there is still dimming upgrade your battery. If that doesn't work then you need to get a bigger amp alternator. That is the way it goes.

But first install everything and if you don't have dimming, you wont have to worry. no need to spend money where it isn't needed. I'd still recommend upgrading the big three anyways.
