Default Installing Aftermarket Stereo

I want to install an aftermarket stereo in my 96 with bose system. Do i just buy the harness and install kit? I have been told by some places yes...then others tell me i need some other part because it's a bose system. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Ask around ls1tech or a car audio forum. Way more traffic there.

I do install at Circuit City, and I work on cars on the side. As for the bose system alot of the ones I've seen have had to have everything replaced. If you do get it to work without replacement of everything it might sound like **** due to the fact that bose runs off of different frequencies. I've not heard one sound so far.

when i got my 96 RS i only needed the dash install kit and the wiring harness. Just bypass the Bose completely. you might want to take out the stock speakers though

Thanks to all for the input, i have the dash currently ripped out, and every time i try to get the parts i need i get some different kind of harness.......grrrrrr.
I am going to attempt to hook it up direct with a regular harness...fingers crossed...will let you know.
