About 3 weeks ago, I had a blowout on one of my tires in the Camaro (on the skyway of all places for those of you in the Tampa area). It was time for new tires anyways. The goodyear eagle GTII is apparently not available in the size P235/55R16 for my car at the tire shop I buy from. I would like to know what a good tire to go with would be. I've heard stories of people putting other tires on that car and it handling very poorly.

I've been thinking about a set of coopers, but they have white lettering (probably not a big deal, I can have them mount them with the white lettering on the inside).

(Its a 1997 3.8 V6 btw)

Coopers are pretty sweet but what exactly are you looking for??

Overall performance and reliability: Bridgestone, Michelin or Continental (but they all come at a price)

Midrange: BFGoodrich, Yokohama, Toyo and Falken

Budget: Uniroyal, Cooper, Goodyear and any Chinese made tire....

 

I'm simply looking for a tire that will not hinder the car's handling (and not have white lettering). Thank you for the info though!

 

Check out the tire rack. They have pretty decent prices, and TONS of reviews. I bought Yokohama Avid's for my car (and could not give you a review yet, because I have not driven on them yet ) But what I did was get Discount tire to price match them. There is always someone in the line of command at a tire store that you can do some haggling with. I got $40 off them, plus went in on a no tax weekend.
