Wipers wont work on anything but high setting

Wipers wont work on anything but high setting
95 V6 3.4 here....when I turn on the wipers they will only work on the high (fast) setting....the spray mist function does not work either...a friend suggested taking the switch apart and cleaning the contacts...Noob here...not gonna deny it.....any suggestions??
