Default when the car is on the lights are on

hey guys im new to this forum. i got a 1998 camaro with a salvage title. the car runs and drives fine. it has a 3800 in it with a automatic. i had a 1997 that i sold to get a talon. but when that fell through i got my 1998. i cloned it to look like a SS. anyways my question is when the key is on the headlights and the whole smash comes on.on my 97 just the front markers are on. and my buddys 99 maro does the same as my old 97 so there must be something wrong. any ideas?

probably something wrong with the light sensor thinking its dark all the time..its in your defrost vent by where your security light will be..if the car has it..

Shouldnt reaaly effect anything negatively..maybe shorten lifespan of the bulbs by some degree, and at least you can still see the dash going through underpasses lol or in the case your alt fails for some reason then..youre screwed in half the time lol

i took it to work today and i fixed it. i didnt know it had a light sensor. well...i knew but i though it was in the rear view mirror. i took the defrost vent up(whats left of it)and the sensor was in a cavity. i reinstalled it after cleaning it and it works. i have a cracked dash cap. my car is a salvage title car and the airbags have went off. bu hen i had my 97 Z28 i changed the steering wheel over to a 2002 ta cause i wanted the volume controls on the wheel so i installed my old airbag. thanks guys
