Default trying to read codes

i have a 1997 rs camaro 3.8 and the check engine light is on ! i asked autozone to plug into it and see what the codes are and they said they cannot read is because the connector is not working or it is disconected. does anyone out there know what i can do ? could someone tell me where the connect leads to so i can see if it is unpluged ?

Thank you in advance for your advice.

Jim

you could try taking it into an actual mechanics or the Haynes manual might have some info in the troubleshooting section

Did they plug it in at all? Possibly told then no comunication. Try another autozone. Maybe they did not do it correct.
Haynes is worthless.

The connector is part of the harness so it does not come unplugged from anywhere. Possible they did something wrong. They are not mechanics and sometimes not that good at selling parts. Did they even think of turning the key on?
