umm. why couldn't you just take one pipe over the axel on each side, like a vette? custom fab some hangers. if you do that though, i'd make a X-pipe somewhere in there. either before the axle, after the cats, or even, after you come over axel. the only hard part will be fitting 2 mufflers in there, might need to make each pipe go to opposite side, or use glass packs as mufflers and tips, as soon as the pipe straightens after axel.

yes it sounds different, but it wont help performance muchunless you are pushing some real hp numbers
It's not about power... It's about the sound. Exhaust is ALL about sound.
to big of a exhaust, and you lose low end. dual 2.5" all the way back is equivalent to a single 3.5" pipe, which is REALLY big for a v6. most of your v6 exhaust systems are single 2.5 or 2.75" pipes. for best HP/TQ balance.

YES, you will gain even more horse with bigger pipes / dual pipes, BUT it moves your TQ curve up, meaning, instead of making max TQ @ say 3500, you now make it at 4000. which is what makes you more Horse, as Horse power is realted to TQ * RPM. this is just a example.

now, for a v6, because you dont have much TQ to start out with, i'd try to keep your low end TQ. plus, you can't rev higher than 5500 if i remeber correctly. if you go duals, i'd do 2".

Actually most of the V6 exhausts are 2.25 if I remember correctly. MIne was at least. And you can rev to about 6100 before you lose your power curve on a stock 6 (if I remember right). Rev limiter kicks at 5900.

im pretty sure mine Redlined @ 5500... but either way, you shouldnt go big with duals.

and really, 2.25? i had magnaflow on mine, and it was 2.5 ID. it's funny.... the exhaust on my ION is i beleave 2.75, and 1.5 primaries, wehre the v6 primaries are like 1.25.

The stock piping is 2.25" I think. Most aftermarket companies go larger for sound issues I guess =P Mine redlines at 5900 =P

Yeah. I prefer my 2.25" tho =P Less HP gain... But I didn't lose any low end torque lol.

I'm almost done installing my 3" mandrel bent exhaust, have to take it to the shop to hang the last bit of it (I suck at welding).
