I'm new to the board and have a couple of questions. I have an 82 with the 2.8 and recently, I slagged the tranny. Given the fact that I have to replace/rebuild the tranny anyway, I've been considering swapping out the THM200 that I have now with something a little tougher. What transmissions can I upgrade to? I've benn told that a THM350 will swap in with minimal difficulty but haven't been able to find anything on this swap. Will the bellhousing mount up to a stock 2.8? Are there any other concerns I should be aware of?

If this swap won't work, what will? I'd like to keep the work and cost to a minimum if at all possible. Thanks in advance.

 

the 350 will bolt up 2 a 4.3--i have never seen it bolt uo to a 2.8
you may want 2 go with a 5speed

I suggest scrapping that 2.8.
