Default Tranny problem

On my 94 camaro, the tranny slips and carries on until about 30 mph. I drained the fluid and no metal or anything was present. fluid didn't look all the bad. Any other things I can do to fix this? Someone suggested changing the bands? The car has 107K on it.

Automatic aka Hydra-Matic 4L60E

4 speed Auto w/ Overdrive(4th gear Overdrive, Lock Up Torque converter Clutch)

1st 3.06
2nd 1.63
3rd 1.0
4th 0.70
Reverse 2.29

MAXIMUM Upshift speed: 1st-2nd=37 mph, 2-3=70 mph, 3-4th= N/A Above 56% throttle, Will not Make WOT 3-4th

MAXIMUM Upshift Engine RPM: 5200

Axle Ratio (Both Manual and Auto) 3.23

No. of Teeth- Pinion= 13 Ring Gear=42

According to this posting, seems like 1st gear would be my problem.

You need to go to a good transmission shop & get the problem diagnosed and fixed before you do more damage. The problem is internal to the transmission, which means it has to come out of the car. Possibiliies range from the Forward Clutch Assembly, internal seals, roller clutches, to bad line pressure.
