Default tranny leak need advice 97 rs v6

i have a pretty bad leak from my transmission. i have replaced the pan gasket and the o-ring that goes around the transmission filler tube. it leaves a frisbee sized puddle every night. i took it to a transmission shop today and tthey told me that it could possibly be a wire harness connector but it's gonna cost 200 to drop the pan and fix. could this be the problem and is it something i can take care of?

First you need to know exactly where it is leaking from. Did it leak befor you replaced the gaskets, or after.

it leaked before i replaced all the gaskets. it appeared to be coming from where the dipstick tube meets the tranny and running all around the pan. which is why at first i thought it was the pan gasket. when that didn't work i changed the dipstick gasket. it still leaks. it leaked worse when i parked on a hill which is what made me check the dipstick tube. but it leaks even when parked level so i can't tell.

could it be from the cooling tube/s that go to the radiator? mine were bleeding out of fittings. took a bit to find it. gona have to clean it up and track it. um arent the wiring connections on the other side? when you parked on the hill was it leaning to one side or up/down in back.

it sure seems your on the right track. i would look for a crack or something like that as well. try a little rtv on the rubber seal for the dip stick tube.

all my electical on the 4l60 is on the driver side. there is a tv cable on mine on the passenger side and the 4l60e does not have it, its shifts are done electronic so there may be a plugin for it on the passenger side.

i have a very similar problem on my 93 camaro v6 3.8l occasionally it will leak a pie plate of transmission fluid when parked on my driveway (its a fairly steep hill) it is definitely coming from the passenger side and every time it smokes because it drips on the exhaust. im having trouble locating exactly where its coming from though

being a 93 you have a 700r4/4l60 so there is a tv cable, dip stick tube, and the cooling lines on the passenger side. if its coming from the passenger side on yours it would be from one of these or a crack in the casing.
