Default tire sizes

I need new tires for my v6 camaro and the car door says i should use the 235 55 r16 tires but the standard tire size is 215 60 r16. I know its best to use whats recomended but the 235 s are more expensive than the 215s and i havent alot of money and i was wondering if anyone has tried swaping and if so what is the difference between the two sizes? My car has the five spoke aluminum wheels from factory.

When it comes to something as important as tires, I'd spend the money and get whats recommended. Have you tried asking Discount Tire or NTB? They'll tell you exactly what will fit and what wont.

The 215's were optioned on the v6 cars with the 16in. rims. you can bump up to the 235's with no issues, but, you have to do all 4. I've done this to alot of v6 Z28 wannabe's. Your car came with the 215's origionaly. and they are the cheaper tire. I would run them, unless you want to spend about $500 on tires.

Concur, if $$$ is the over-riding issue.
Just be careful cornering.
I have the same wheels, but they had 245/50-T16 on when bought. They work well, but these cars outrun their tires as it is, so use caution...
