Default Tachometer help

I currently have a 1985 camaro. (It's 2.8L V6 stock) I just got a tachometer and I am wondering where i put the pick-ups for the tach to know how many RPMs the engine is going. Also if anyone knows the redline of the stock 2.8L engine that would be great.

I don't know the Redline off the top of my head. But look to your ignition coil connector. There should be 3 wires. Positive, ground, and a tach wire. Apparently you hook it up to the tach sector.

Which of the wires is the tach pick-up, there are 2 groups of wires plugged into the coil (groups like the plugs that plug into the back of the headlights, ect). Will I have to cut one of the wires and splice it for the tach?
