is there a fuse for it that i can pull? would that work? or what if i just pull the switch out? would that work? or would it still be stuck in gear? would this also cause the check engine light to come on?

If your car isn't accelerating at all in 1st gear, it's a transmission problem. If you're talking about the light in the shift indicator, it's very easy to replace. Just pop up that portion of the console, and you'll see the light right under there.
