Question Steering Wheel Jerks Alot!!

Ok I just noticed this today while driving slow its the worst, but when driving the steering wheel seems to jerk alot left, and right while driving you can pretty much feel it in the steering wheel.I checked the power steering fluid and it seems to be full, now Im very clueless as to why its doing this, does anyone have any idea what the problem is?

Yeah im having the same problem, but its not too bad when im going slow; its when i hit 50+ the wheel shakes a lot. I think it mught be the front rotors, but im not sure.

To the original poster, I would suggest getting the alignment checked, and perhaps the left front brakes looked at. Sounds like the pads might be dragging. 02v6, I would get the wheels checked to see if they are balanced.

yeah i took them to get balanced twice. So i dont think that is the problem, besides the rotors what else could it be? Oh and the back rotors needed to be replaced, but i didnt have time to check the front ones, so that might be it.

Could be a worn tire rod?

It's likely your tires. Jack it up and pull the front two tires and roll them looking for uneven wear especially near the edges of the tread. Check to see if the balancing weight is still clipped to both wheels on the rim. It's typically a small lead weight clipped to the rim. It's either that or badly warped rotors. Since you say it gets worse with speed I can say almost 100% though that it's the tires themselves. The wheels may be out of alignment. They are most certainly out of balance. As the wheel increases in speed it's mass pulls harder and harder away from the center of the wheel. So if it's worn really unevenly, one half of the wheel will pull harder than the other while it's rotating causing the wheel to vibrate and hop at speed. That's why you balance your wheels. You are trying to get the wheel pull evenly around the center as it's rotating. Probably too much information but that's how it works. So your tires are either worn really unevenly or the balancing weight is missing. Let us know what you find.

My pathfinder did that, and then I had to get it aligned and the problem was fixed.

Tie-rod is part of your steering mechanism

Here is video on how to change it
