Default starter

i have an 01 3.8l camaro and when i turn the key the starter does not engage for about a second. what could be causing this problem?

is it clicking and then goes? could be in the ignition switch or in the vats or the starter or maybe a poor connection. take the battery cable lose and clean the battery terminals and wire ends, wire brush the heck outa them.

it hasn't done it anymore i think it must have just been because the car hadnt been ran recently
