Take it to your local az and have the codes ran on it. Without a code i don't think theres much anyone can do to help. Or you could go pick up a cheap code reader yourself from a part store (advance has them for i think 40 or 50) and again, post the code it throws.

Do you want to throw parts at the problem, or do you want to fix it? If you want to fix it, you need to know what the problem is. To do that you will need to have the computer scanned in order to find out why it is lighting the SES lamp. This car needs to be scanned with a OBDI scanner, cheap code readers won't work, and flashing codes won't work either

HEY! I take offense to that! My reader isn't cheap!! It can do everything...except... anything unrelated to reading codes.. i guess it is kinda cheap then since it can't cook me dinner stupid floozy.

On a serious note now, I did not know you had to use a OBDI scanner for these cars. You can't use a OBDII scanner at all on them? If this is accurate then damn it all, i need to go get me a OBDI scanner! <--HINT HINT (if you didn't catch that OP, then go to AZ and buy one of them for $30)

Second note-They can still take it to AutoZone and have the code ran, they will still do it for free. As for them telling you what the problem really is instead of a general "Oh the gas cap is loose" kind of answer, then you might get lucky. Best bet would be to go pick up a OBDI scanner.

Oh and hey pete, thanks! You taught me something new today. I thought only the 1st-3rd gens had the OBDI port. Thought all vehicles 93-current had the OBDII ports. Now i know its at LEAST 96/97 that started with them

i seen somewhere on here how to "Jump scan" the 95's using a OBDI scanner. You just need a couple wires and know which actual holes to put them in on the OBDII port. matter of fact, craby put it up and said which one it is to look at. So give his post a look over and you'll have your answer eventually.
