Sealant for #4 Main Bearing cap
Trying to get the crankshaft installed in my 2000 3.8. The manual says to put a sealant between the #4 main cap and the block. Does anyone know exactly where this sealant should go?
Clean both mating surfaces with either lacquer thinner or BraKleen®.
Then on the block, lay a 1/16 inch continuous bead from the pan gasket to the flange seal.
The idea is sealing the cap from oil seepage but keeping the sealant volume low preventing fretting - walking - between the cap and block.
