my 97 rs is runnung really bad. i had a code for cylinder 5 misfire, so i changed the plug and the wire, it still is doing the same thing. it is very shaky and kind of like hesitant on accelaration. when i am at a light stopped with my foot on the brake it moves. when i took off the plug wire it was all corroded inside. once the new wire was in it seemed fine but the next day it was doing the same thing. my engine light flashes also. does anyone know what could be wrong? thank you for your help

 

It could possibly be the coil or Ignition Control Module (ICM). You might swap the coil around and see if the misfire moves with it (looking at the codes). Although unlikely, the fuel injector could be faulty. I would try the coil first.

 

it was the ignition coil. replaced that and runs fine. thanks for all your help
