3.4 running hot

well, after dropping in the another engine in my convertible, i noticed the temp gauge gets to the 3/4 way mark then the fan comes on and cools down just under the half way mark. is this normal? is there a bleed system for the cooling system on this engine? i also noticed the oil pressure gets lower when the engine is hot. any ideas? thanks.
p.s. im putting this car up for sale.

I assume you have checked to see that you have a good thermostat, and no coolant line issues, right?

yea, everythings full. the car just runs hot to me. i thought it should stay just under the half way mark all the time. i just didnt want to ruin the engine.
