Default Raspyness....?

Hi everyone,
I have been looking into getting a new SLP loudmouth 1 from a buddy for my 3.8l camaro. Ive seen some videos online and all sounded great.
But when i looking into the other mufflers out there, some sound "Raspy"..?
What is that caused by?

The LM1 will be terrible on a six banger. They have no packing inside and are just an open resonator and thus will rasp terribly for you.

okay thanks guys. yeah i thought i saw a thread on it not to long ago. Do you guys have any other suggestions then? for mufflers? or setups... im getting the exhaust because it is a dual tail pipe which is usually lots of money but im getting it plus the muffler out of the bnox new for like 100$ so i save some money anyhow and could sell the LM1 if i want to for a couple of bucks.

LM1's new are around $80 for just the resonator, to resell it you might make $30 or $40. Pretty much any catback is going to include dual tailpipes. Magnaflow is a popular budget choice for good reasons; stainless steel, mandrel bent, good sound and quality all for around $400.

Borla Adjustable catback -- what I have on my '02 RS -- great sound, and you can adjust the sound with plates or an E-Valve for the built-in cutout!

Based on you trying to save money I think your going to find the Borla out of your price range. They retail for almost $1200 but can be found just under $1000. It hard to beat Magnaflow for the price.
