Default Puzzling Dilemma

Ive got a v6 2001 camaro

im going to do some work to it but i cant decide on what i want to do

i get alot of people making fun of the fact that i drive a v6 but i enjoy it.

The only thing i know for sure that im going to do to it is paint it Feji Blue

but...

one of the options i want to do is keep the v6 and put bult ons like crazy.... new headers, 3.5 inch cat back exhaust, no cat (straight pipe), New throtle body, throtle body spacers, cold air, new shocks (maybe some lowering springs but only an inch) high flow mass air, and maybe some other stuff too...

or...

i dont want to put an ls1 in it... yes great engine but thats whats in camaros i would love to put in an ls2... but i dont know how much work and money that will force cause of the transmission... its a much bigger engine and ill have to spend alot more money than what i can right now... so i dont know

but im also thinking about just leaving it the way it is and keep until i can afford the new Camaro and then just put money away for working on the v6 at a way later date...

i dont really know what to do ..... any advice or suggestions?

well.. to start, i would say 3.5" exhaust is a little big, especially for a v6.
LS2 Conversions have been done before, probably more often than you might think.. There's probably write-ups on it somewhere, if not someone on LS1tech can probably help you for sure.. Although im sure the LS2 conversion would be much easier if you started with an LS1 car instead of a V6.

Leaving it the way it is to buy a new Camaro is a pretty good option too, if you can wait that long. If your looking for speed out of your camaro, then i wouldnt bother with a V6. I have a V6, and dont really plan on modding it. If i made more $ i would've lightly modded it im sure, but unless you want something thats unique, i wouldnt expect too much performance-wise out of it.

Just my opinion..

the ls2 should bolt in, youw ould just needs the entire motor/tranny/harness combo. upgraded front suspension which probably includes kmember, and new plubming.

Id put a little money into your sixer. Not a lot, just stuff like the headers and exhaust, work on the air intake, do a few suspension mods (kyb shocks are nice), and maybe some drilled rotors. Just depends on what you want to do. I would advice against swapping the engine unless you can get everything real cheap. If you can't, and your goal is fast, consider investing in a Z28. I'm not personally fond of the new camaro, it's very heavy, and I think it just plain ol looks bad (my opinion).

Ich auch. I don't like the look of the new Camaro much either. But I saw some videos of it running on 'The Ring' and it seemed to do pretty well. I've decided not to put a V8 into my Camaro and just do what I can with the six.

There are no aftermarket throttle bodies for the 3.8, unless you want to some fabricating. That also rules out the "high flow mass air", as it and the throttle body are one unit.
