Default Pulling Codes on a 95 3.4

I'm assuming 95 was a transition year for the OBD systems in these cars? The car has an OBD-II port, but the scanners cannot get anything but an error code.

Is there such thing as an OBD 1.5?

If so, who, besides the dealer can pull and diagnose? I know auto zone and advance auto do not have the capability.

thanks in advance.

The computer is OBDI, but the connector is OBDII. You need a OBDI scanner and an adapter cable. Most good repair shops should know about it, and be able to scan the computer.

i actually live in lima. close, but not too close. lol

i wonder if i can pick up a cheap OBD-I scanner with an adapter anywhere?

I seem to have a "soft" code, that throws itself after about a 2 hour drive, and then it only stays on for about 10 seconds, oronce the car is shut off and restarted, it will have disappeared. I'd like to check and see if it's being stored at all, and if so, what the cause is.
