If all you're doing is replacing the cradle, why make extra work by removing the trans and engine? Making an engine hanger is simple.

And if your engine or trans needs work, along with a new cradle, drop everything in one shot, like it was built.

I purchased a new engine cradle, how do I go about cutting the old one if i dont have a plasma cutter, Salsaw? and how safe is it assumingI get a good welder, and by hanger you mean crossmember right?

I assumed you had a newer gen. Camaro that had the bolt in engine cradle, my mistake. But if you do have to cut out the old one, sounds like you may be in over your head without some professional help. Make sure your welder is certified and has some experience with auto restoration.

And by 'hanger' I meant a tool that spans the engine compartment and allows the engine to be suspended from it so such jobs as replacing the oil pan or engine cradle can be done without removing the engine.

ok, so I finally got a socket on the right side bolt by the tranny dipstick but i still cant remove it. Ive tried usinga 18mm 3/8drive socket with two about 6" extensions(attached) I will be buying a long extension tomorrow,i think the two extensions are having an effect on why i cant get the bolt off. I also tried a breaker bar, but the socket i have it to large to fit in the small spot i have between the firewall and transmission bolt. What does everyone else use to get them off?
