Overheating?

RE: Overheating?
Check your water pump. My '97 3800 v6 had a slow leak from the water pump that did not show any fluid under the car for 5 or 6 weeks. When I was able to finally track the leak location down, it was showing some fluid on the crossmember. It still wasn't obvious where the leak was, but after cleaning the front of the block with Gunk, I was able to see a discoloration on the block (using inspectionmirror and flashlight) which started at the water pump bearing weep hole. Much easier than the head gasket to repair.

RE: Overheating?
Hey thanks Tom that was ALOT of help and after that im sure its a head gasket, the smell is sweet, i have a puddle of fluid under my exhaust tip, and when i hit the throttle white smoke comes out. I think what im going to do is use a stop leak(a good kind) that way it will uy me some more time then im going to look at getting another vehicle because this one does have 177,XXX miles on it. The bolt got sheared from the kid who had it before me who was stupid and thought he could get it off but when he tried he busted the bolt and left it go the way it was.
