Default New v6 01 owner. (cam question)

I have a completely stock 2001 base model I purchased 3 weeks ago.

I want to throw some performance in it, but I'm not sure what requirements I need for the things I want.
Intake, heads, and exhaust are self explanatory. But what about a gt2 camshaft?
From what I've found, aftermarket cams can be a bit tricky so I figured someone here would be able to point me in the right direction as far as requirements.

Thanks

When it comes to cams you need to replace your valve springs. It's also recommended that you replace the lifters and valve retainers aswell. You'll want either a brand new timing chain or a double roller to handle the extra stress a cam is going to put on the chain.
