My car leaked coolant but then it just stopped

Wish I could see better/more on the pics but it does seem to be the coolant pump/timing cover area. The PO of my 94 drove the car hot, blew the RH head gasket, and cracked the RH head. I had to overhaul the engine. Here's what that area looks like coming apart and then going back together.

Pump is removed. So what's the easiest way to get the old seal off? Im lightly scraping it off but not too hard because I don't wanna scrap the aluminum too bad. Any suggestions?

if your talking about the gasket then use a gasket scraper. i have used a old wide wood chissel and has worked, gotta be real careful. there sharp and cut into the aluminum.

Ya that's what I meant, sorry. Ok because my repair manual says something about acetane to remove it and I really didn't know if that's the only way

Is it to put the sealant on the gasket and let it dry to the new pump and then put sealant on the other side and attach it to the block? Or should I just do it before it has time to dry to the pump? I hope this question was phrased in a confusing way lol

i use it on one or the other not both and dont let it dry. if used on both sides, when you take it apart in the future, the gasket will stick to both and rip in half leaving gasket on both surfaces that is stuck good. it helps to hold the gasket in place so if im putting the gasket on the part then thats where the rvt goes. if on the block or head then thats where it goes. now this is just me, im sure theres a rule of thumb here that i dont remember.

Ok. I did that and everything is put back together. So how long should I let it dry before i fill the system up with coolant and pressurize it?

well when i was young and impatiant i would not wait at all. now i like to let it set overnight for that extra setup time, lol, dont really know if it helps but i like to think so. its a very good idea to let it set up when using only rvt.

Lol well I'm young and impatient. But problem: my temperature gauge isn't working. All the hoses are hot as well. Thermostat?
