Just looked through it closer. Won't do that part, that's alright.

I didn't want to screw up your build thread and I remember this one.

Can you adjust knock sensor sensitivity or is it just on/off?

You know, I'm not sure. I'm still learning how to use this mess. I wouldn't think you would want to de-sensitize the knock sensors though, they retard the timing if you get detonation. They also give you good info for tuning, shows you where to pull timing and such.

But I'm not sure enough to give a firm answer, most of this tuning stuff is over my head. Prior to this, tuning to me was messing with my old holley 4 barrel, this is 20x's more complicated, and much easier to screw things up with.

Back in the 80's we used to have a problem with mechanical cam making to much noise. We had found a replacment sensor that was less sensitive. I also found some of the built motors with hydralic cams where reporting same "knocks" with gas as they did with Cam2racing fuel. I think the knock sensor was picking up vibrations.

I was eyeing up PCMs for less website. I think they use HPtune. I noticed on the Camaro V6 order form they have it listed as
Desensitive Knock Sensor?
Options:
Leave as is
Yes (reccomended)
Remove entirely

I just don't know enough to give a firm answer. My head says leave them sensitive, but my gut says follow them. I don't see anywhere in hp tuners to de-sensitize the sensor though, so I'm not sure if it's something that even can be done with these pcm's. You might call them and talk to them, they really know their way around this stuff. I would, but my schedule doesn't let me, they're closed by the time I get home.

I need to call them anyway, Looks like they will send me a PCM with a refundable core charge. I want to do that but not send in my PCM. Since my motor is basicly stock I would like to keep the original computer incase I run into problems down the road. Also I want to do the 96 upgrade to the 97 PCM and I want to make sure they support that.

I am thinking I will go ahead and get the High flow Cat and do the 160 deg thermostat. I am doing this instead of the 50 shot of NO2. I figure 20 more HP all the time is better then 50 that I have to plan for. Sucks tho I need to stay with 87 octain since I drive 120 miles a day.

for pcmforless, do you get a core refund for sending in your 96 PCM if you request a 97 PCM? I would like to tune mine as well but I also have the 96.
