Default MAJOR QUESTION

This is sarah, im new to this thing..so gimme some credit please. I have a 1997 Chevy Camaro 3800... It's making a funny sound and I wanted to know if anybody has any suggestions. When I start it, it has like a whisleting sound under the hood, and even when i accelerate it has like a whisle sound and i can't figure out what it is. Is It the alt, or the belt, or what? I don't want to take it into a shop, if it is a no-brainer to fix i cannot figure out what that sound is, or what it is coming from....CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME!?

ok it could be a vacuum leak. it sounds like might be a vacuum leak. if you open your hood and specifiacally listen to that sound, block out the motor and other backround noises, try to lacate the source. if you can find what is leaking you can fix it. vacuum lines arent hard to fix. you just have to be careful on what your working with.
