Default Maf is nasty!!!!

ok so my MAF sensor is super dirty and im gonna pull the TB, MAF, and intake manifold off and clean all of them but my MAF is horrible. i was told the only SAFE way to clean it is rubbing alcohol and a Q-tip... VERY CAREFULLY that is. is that how?

They make special MAF cleaners that can clean them up really good without touching the sensor. I would not touch it if you dont have to. They are not cheap to replace. Why take the intake manifold off? That is alot of work and cheaning the grime off will not really give you any more ponies. Chean the TB and MAF you should be OK. Make sure that the IAC is clean too (If you have one)

As Massey said, use a spray MAF cleaner, and you can buy it at a parts store. The sensors have some fine wires to them, and you don't want to go poking around and break them. The spray cleaner alone works well, I've used it many times before.

alright, when i took my MAF out, the prongs holding the wires together are all bent sideways and the wires are wavy (not straight across) should i straighten them out carefully or just buy a new one... if i break it imma have to buy a new one anyways!
