Default Looking for new exhaust

I will start by letting you guys know that i know nothing when it comes to cars. I have a friend who is helping me with souping up my 2000 camaro (v6). I am looking to get the best preformance out of my car. I was told that if i get new exhaust, headers, and a shiftkit i should notice a considerable difference. My first question would be concerning the exhaust. Does anyone have any recommendations when it comes to performance and sound for my exhaust?

I have the Flowmaster on mine with duals on back and it has been mistaken for a Z when idling but just like any other muffler on a V6 when you hammer it they will know it's a V6 I spent about $250 for muffler tips and installation.

Yu could go the simplest route of all, like I did and just put a straight pipe from the cat to the back and weld on a couple of echo chambers to give em that v8 look and v8 muffled sound. It cost me $75. I found that the best tips are 3 1/2' by 22" echo chambers. They might weigh a little but they really set the sound off. They have that froaty sound and very little rapse to them especially at redline. If I could get a sound clip and a camera I would show the set up.

I like the flowmaster 80 series exaust with performance cat and pacesetter headers, my car also gets mistaken for a Z all the time and i sometimes wonder if i have too much backpressure for a v6.

Thanks for the tips guys. I went ahead with a MagnaFlow for my Cat Back. But i had some more questions for anyone who is willing to help. I am looking to do some advances for my car. Here is the work i am considering at the moment for my changes
- Headers
- Shift Kit (for trans)
- Intake (possibly supercharger)
- New Cat (possibly performance)
- Either 3'73 or 4'10 gears
- Reprogrammer for my pc chip
And i am not familiar with the Cam so i would need advice on that. Basically this is all the help i have gotten so far from friends, but anything anyone wants to throw out there to help me more would be greatly appreciated. My goal is to be dusting worthy V8's asap. Thanks again
