They may just keep someone from running into you, and most insurance companies give discounts if you have factory DRLs. And as Mike said, you can't see them while you are driving. Why do all these people want to return to the stone age?

Its like the older harley guys not likeing a v-rod.
The DRLs are what they have used in Europe for years to cut down on accidents. The U. S. is just catching up to the technology.

Keep your DRLs, they may prevent someone from running into you, and most insurance companies offer a discount if they are factory installed. Besides, as Mike stated you can't see them while you are driving.

I've got a remote starter on my camaro and leave the house when it's still rather dark out. It's nice being able to see where I'm going because of the headlights being on. But then again, there's times I'd like to be able to switch off the headlights, like creeping along in stop and go traffic because of an accident. Also many states now have laws about having your headlights on under certain weather conditions ... So the auto on for the headlights might save the cost of a ticket and related points. You got to admit, there's an argument for both sides.

The sensor that controls the system is in the defroster outlet on theright side. I haven't tested yet to seeif disconnecting it disables the system. But I think running one lead through a normally closed relay with a switch to open the relay would allow the system to be in automatic mode or manual mode everytime you start the car. This shouldn't interfer with the parking lights working as DRLs.

01 Camaro Cp,

In response to your post - I am looking into getting a remote starter for my 2002 B4C Camaro. What do you have installed in your vehicle, and what type of remote starter do you recommend? I do not want an alarm system as well, just the remote starter.

Also, with regards to disabling the "automatic headlights" at night, I am interested in "Stealth mode" too. I have been wanting to disable that optical [photocell] sensor for quite some time. I would like to keep the DRLs, however. They are nice and bright during the day, and provide a decent amount of "anti-collision" light frontward.

If you could keep me abreast of your findings with regards to the optical light sensor, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration, and I look forward to hearing back from you soon. Take care.

Best Regards,
Steve
