kinda dumb but my car doesn't say a recommended psi
So my tires say that the maximum psi is 51. I looked in the repair manual (since i dont have an owners manual), and it said to look in the glove compartment at the sticker to find it. Well when i opened the glove box, there were no stickers there. I looked on my door and nothing was there. Can anyone tell me how much i should have in my tires if the tires say they have a max of 51 psi... 51 seems like a lot

I don't have the psi numbers on the door either, the sticker is there but the wording has worn off. I looked in the operators manual and it doesn't say either. I have always been told to inflate the tires to the numbers on the sticker you refer to to keep the front end alignment correct but there are so many new tires and wheels, I'm not sure that even applies if you are not running stock tires and wheels.

Forget the door sticker PSI..GM's way for a soft ride...A better rule of thumb is run between 32/35PSI checked cold for city/hyw driving. Myself, I run 35 PSI on all four. DO NOT USE the tire pressure stamped on the tire.. That is the MAX pressure it can be inflated to, not driving.

u can run high speed low profile tires with less pressure if u like but will most likely cut the tire life and tire performance in half. like i said high speed tires are made for more psi. i would be very nervous taking corners at 90 to 100 mph with under inflated z rated tires. so i guess i would say it depends on the tires.

Gee, the tires are stamped 51 PSI so I will inflat them to that number. Then I can take corners at 90/100 mph without the low profile tires rolling over. Good luck and I hope you are wearing your Depends.

Go here and download a PDF of your Owners Manual, it will say in there:

Right now they are inflated at about 35 psi when cold. I doubt this matters but i get awful gas mileage now. it has dropped like 4 mpg since like 2 months ago.
What i have been told is that the tires were made for higher pressure so i should put it close to the maximum psi, like 5 to 10 under it. What i dont want is for the tires to be worn down fast, because i dont want replace them again because my of the stupid pressure was off.

well its up to what u want. u can have a little softer ride and get less mpg or not. try it at 10 under and see how things go. i run mine at a little under 40 (z tires with 50 max) and have a nice ride and they seem to be wearing even. cruised to ramond and had a little fun testing the new struts and front alignment taking some average corners at 80 with very little tire side roll.
