Default issue starting the car

so recently my car has been having a tough time starting. as i turn the key to start it will make the sound like its going to start (like when out of gas) but it wont and it smells like gas. sometimes it turns on at the first turn of the key and sometimes it wont turn on at all. another thing that happens is when i turn the key it wont make a sound at all. the radio and everything will work but the car wont make a sound or start. could it be related to the starter? if so wheres the starter on a 2000 camaro v6.

I hope you checked for gas leaks on the pavement and elsewhere...
Are you getting any codes? If the starter doesn't turn over, it could be failing -- does it always turn over? Do you have known good/recent plugs & wires? Ever had a fuel pressure test done?

yeah i checked for gas leaks. and no on the rest. i've noticed it generally starts after a cold night, but if its hot out it wont start. that might be coincidence though.
