Default Little Starting issue

So ive had this weird starting problem since Ive owned he car (94 z28 LT1). it happens more when the car is warmed up. but ill go to start the car.. and it will crank and then it sounds like the starter is not sucking back in after the car has started resulting in a kind of grinding noise.. now im sure thats the starter starting to go. but when i try to keep it from doing that by letting go of the key right as it starts.. it tends to almost "diesel" a little.. does it sound like i got a starter thats starting to go or do they all do this?

Also another thing.. While im driving normally.. when i let off the gas and let the car coast (auto tranny) the the idle will jump up and down causing the car to surge back and forth a little.. and when i put my foot on the brake.. it will stop.. idk??

I appreciate the help guys!

starter solonoid is sticking. it does sound like you are gona need a new starter in the near future. i think the surging is your tranny converter locking and unlocking. when you let off the gas for a certain amount of time the computer will lock the converter to help you slow down but once you get goin so slow it will unlock, keeps it from lugging or killing the motor.

thats what i thought about the starter.. now the tranny is rebuild and the converter is brand new.. is this something i should worry about? is there a way to fix it?

if your worried stop by a tranny shop, explain it to them and see what they say. if its doing what i was explaining its normal. when you slow down the converter will lock to help you slow. also if you put the brakes on it will unlock the converter. the converter locking will raise the rpms if your going fast and slowing, as you slow the rpms will drop and once you get goin so slow the converter will unlock and the idle should drop as though you were in neutral.
