Hmmmm...Spark Plugs, Fluid Injector cleaner?
Alright so i posted another one saying Camaro v6 1996 Y87 Glitches! well i know theres a zillion topics on the internet on how to make your v6 quick yes thats awesome but thats not really my goal i just want to return mine to its Prime* if you will.. the story on the car is its been in a garage for 9 years... it had 3 year old gas when i bought it, the oil was a deep black.. So now that i have changed the oil put in higher octane gas for the first few trips and did some other cleaning like a new air filter, power washed the motor i was wondering if i should look into other things like a fuel injector cleaner that you pour in the gas tank to clean out yoru fuel injectors or maybe new spark plugs and wires, i dont know what i should do but the car seems to be doing ok i would just like to get a richer sound out of it and yes iam going to do exhaust but not at the moment.. so i was thinking greater spark better idle maybe and possibly better acceleration, same with the fuel injector cleaner stuff... What else could i do to improve the sound of the motor excluding high end top dollar stuff, just minimal stuff that should be done every so often... My dads big into rebuilding cars and so am I... like the body work not the motor work so any info would be awesome!
1.sea foam the motor (search).
2. plugs wires, fuel filter, oil, check coils and connections.
i have found any thing you put in your car other then sea foam is junk and dont work.

get a can of seafoam ( at any auto parts store usually 5 bucks) disconnect the vaccuum line from your brake booster. using a small funnel slowly pour in the first 2/3 of the bottle SLOWLY or it will die. Yes your RPM's will rev up dont worry this is all perfectly safe for your engine. Now with the last 1/3 of the bottle you want to dump this in as fast as possible in hopes that you will flood the engine and it will die. Now take key out of ignition, (If you dont you'll know why- your car wont shut off even with it in the off position) Let it set for about 15-20 mins. Then start the car. It will start billowing out smoke like a cheech and chong flick, This is perfectly fine for your engine it's comparable to water and skin.... Anyways after letting it idle for about 5 mins take that baby out and give it some hell you will want to get all the seafoam out. You'll know when it's out because your car will stop shooting out clouds of blue toxic vapor. Great on an engine, Horrible on the environment. It basically cleans all the carbon build up out of your engine. Use once every 10,000 miles i think.
I after filling up with gas i usually use Lucas Fuel Injector Cleaner every once in awhile. But Seafoam is basically what you would pay a mechanic 45 bucks for its a fuel system treatment. Works great. I poured seafoam into my gas tank as well. You can use it in your oil but you will want to do this within a few days prior to an oil change. I'd use a synthetic blend or full synthetic oil. Improve your sound by installing a cold air intake. You'll feel the power and the sound.
Seafowm is awesome. Also change the plugs and wires. Fuel, air and oil filters. The injector cleaner in the tank also works well. You are looking for a basic tune up here. Buy a chiltons manual and their you will find a bunch of info on tuning it up. Post pics when you get a chance and welcome to the forums.
Oh thanks alot you guys i really just want to get it in good shape... last night i drained the coolant and then ran cold water through it several times... the coolant was a really really dark brown color ... and there was alot of gummy chunks in it but now its all cleaned up so thats better, we replaced oil and oil filter right away and then i did an air filter after that next ill do a fuel filter and the seafoam treatment sounds great after that i think it will be running smoothly :P i love the car its the best thing i have ever owned its just SO DAMN SHARP!!!! i love it
and probably a cold air intake sounds better, and then all custom piping out the back from a friend who owns a muffler shop and does alot of street rods ..the v6 is a great motor but i did get eaten alive the other night by a friends VW Gulf thats been chipped so i just thought if i could get it tuned and better shape that would be sweet... Power isnt everything though its the car that i like so much
Thanks for all the help guys!!
