If you have fuel pressure then its more then likely something in the ignition or timing... i would start there and then go from there coils cap wires plugs

Could it be the VATS?

If ignition parts are good and properly connected, take a good look at the Crank Position Sensor and its wiring. Scan the CPM & see if any codes are set. VATS works by preventing the starter from cranking the engine, and the injectors from firing. VATS does not affect spark delivery.

check gages means to look at your gages something is wrong. low or no oil pressure, high temp, low volts stuff like that.

In your situation no, because your engine isn't running. With the key in the "on" position with the engine off, all the dash lights will illuminate. Some just momentarily, and others will stay on.

so far ive changed the computer and still nothing. would it matter if i put the ground coming from the coil pack on the body. because i forgot to ground it to the back of the left cylinder head? would that cause having no spark? its pretty hard to get there. or is it pointless?

it would be best to ground that wire to the block. does not have to be at the back of the head could probly get away with grounding to intake bolt if u can on a 98. i believe that ground wire to the coil could be your problem. did u figure out the black wire?

well thats the black wire.so if that dont work. ill try to change the crank position sensor. and then knock sensors.and if that dont work ill try to change the evap canister sensor.since it all has to do with ignition. any more ideas?
