Default Help with Accelorator Noise

Hello all,
Was wondering if anyone knew or heard of my problem before. My 98 v6 camaro, when coasting around 50-70mph as i take my foot off the accelorator the engine makes some kind of hissing noise, as soon as i press my foot back on the accelorator it goes away.

was wondering what could be causing this to happen?

thanks

Is it affecting the way the car drives? Are you sure it's from the engine?

If it's simply a hiss from air entering the intake and passing the throttle blade at idle stance, then it's nothing.

Both of my 4th gens make a slight howling noise when I let off the gas in OD but that's because of their limited slip. I'd almost call it gear whine but I've heard it in so many of them. Especially manual cars lol. I do not worry.

i do have a manual, but the noise doesnt affect the way the car drives at all, Im sure its from the engine because it only happens above 40mph and when i let my foot off the accelerator after coasting. it does sound like it must be from the air intake... do you know how i can get rid of that hissing noise?

Lol so it HAS to be the engine because it happens above 40... Bad logic buddy.

Do you have a cold air intake? How loud is it? If it just sounds like air and you added a CAI, get used to it. If it's more of a howling, try to decide where it's coming from. My intake whistles at idle too so it may be something else. Unless I heard it, I can't tell you for sure lol.

It could be your rear end is low on fluid and whining. Get it checked.

thanks for all your responces so far. Ive fillied all the fluids of the car . The reason why i think its from the engine is that it only happens when the engine is engaged, at higher speeds(45mph and up) becasue being that its a manual when i put it in nuetral at those speeds it wont make that hissing noise. my logic tells me its something with the accelorator or throttle body, but im not sure still.

when your cruising at 40 do you keep it in 4th or 5th gear? if its in 5th then its most likly your intake(being if you have a c.a.i) cause in my car i have to give it enough gas to get up to speed cause its being bogged so much that my intake whistles at that throttle position.
