My 94 has a freshly rebuilt 3.4. While the 3.4 cars were rated at 19/28 I think those numbers were very optimistic. In about 3 months of driving the best mileage I have seen was 255 miles on 14.5 gallons and I don't drive it hard at all. My car is an automatic.
I think a big factor toward the bad mileage (vs the Chysler you mentioned) is gearing in both the transmission and the final drive. The Camaro was marketed as a performance vehicle whether is was a 6 or an 8 and the designers wanted it to feel peppy. My 3.4 is surprisingly snappy and I'm very happy with it. It has a 3.23:1 rear axle and I'm positive the Chrysler had a ratio in the low to mid 2s. Makes a big difference.
As for the car you got, congratulations! The 3800 is a better engine than the 3.4 and the 5-speed will help you get a little better mileage. The Camaro looks good in white but I'd sure lose those black stripes on the side -- looks like you got sideswiped by a truck!

Lmao, yeah i agree, but not sure how to get them off without destroying the surface below, will goo gone take them off? Pretty sure they are made out of that stuff pin stripping is made out of, but not positive on that. If there is a good way to get them off I def will because I really was not a fan of those when I saw them on there haha, look kinda randomly placed to me.

So far I think im getting over 25 so im pretty happy about that, lol, can't complain. Your point of the gearing is probably true, I forgot about that, I remember the chrysler being able to rev out to 6500 but it was a really really low turner on the highway, dead silent too. Comparing my camaro to a 2003 monte ss, the camaro turns similar rpm at hwy so it should get comparable mileage I would think, and my friends monte will pull 30 on hwy trips and 26 overall. Once I fix the coil we will see which car gets the most outta the 3800 lol, he has me by 40hp tho.

The seats like yours were available as an option to any 97 Camaro. More got the 30th anaversary pkg than didnt. There was an Anaversary SS edition that only came in white with hugger orange stripes and an LT1. The interior was hounds tooth and leather. It is a sweet looking car. My little cousin has one. Check this out.

I don't like the stripes on the roof. Ford is the only American car maker that does that.

I love those seats but they must be a PITA to keep clean.

I know right? You can't even drive a car with a white interior without getting it dirty.

Yep, that's why I love having the ebony leather interior. Easy to maintain.

Me too! Although, I'm thinking of putting in red 2004-2006 GTO front seats.

Aren't Z-rated tired for speeds above 149mph? Don't think it's necessary to spend that kind of money on tires, brakes would be better as far as safety. A V6 is NEVER going to do 150, unless it's highly modded.

Anyway, to the original poster, if you don't feel your need for speed being satisfied I would recommend just getting an older motorcycle. I paid $600 for a 1984 700cc magna and it is a lot of fun. Really helped me bridge the gap until I got my Z28 back. Not to mention insurance is MUCH more affordable.
